How to record an object as independently moveable
In many EMu Catalogs it is possible to specify that an object is Not Independently Moveable. Such objects are relocated whenever their parent record is moved. The relocation continues in all child records until all non-independently moveable records are updated.
An example is a book that may contain two color plates. All three objects are recorded separately. The book is the parent object of the two plates which are flagged as not independently moveable because if the book is relocated they must go with it.
Each child object can be recorded as either:
- Independently moveable - can be located in a different location from the rest of the child object and parent objects, e.g. cup and saucer that are part of a tea set.
- Not independently moveable - all child objects must be located together with the parent object, e.g. photographs contained in a book.
To record an object as independently moveable:
- Search the Catalog for the required object.
- Select the Location tab.
- To make an object independently moveable, select the Yes radio button in the Independently Moveable field
-OR-
To make an object not independently moveable, select the No radio button in the Independently Moveable field.
- Save the record.
