Identifier Format Registry entry
Specify a naming convention for multimedia files added to the multimedia repository.
When a multimedia resource is added to the Multimedia module, by default the Identifier associated with the media is the resource's file name.
Note: A resource's Identifier can appear in several places in its record in the Multimedia module, including the Identifier: (Resource Information) field on the Multimedia tab and the Identifier: (Image Attributes) field on the Resolutions tab.
The Identifier Format Registry entry allows an institution to define how the Identifier is generated.
Note: It is only possible to define how a resource's Identifier is generated when the resource is added to the Multimedia module. Using the Update Resource command will not regenerate a resource's Identifier to reflect a new or changed Identifier Format Registry entry.

Identifier Format
|
format |
where:
format | is a string defining the layout of the Identifier. The string may contain the following variables: | |||
|
Note:
If a format is not specified, the default format is {identifier}
.
The format string should not contain the file extension to be used as this is determined by the media file being added. If images are scanned, the format setting is used to define the Identifier. If a format is defined, users cannot override the Identifier value generated, however a copy of the original file identifier is placed in the Source field, which may be altered subject to user permissions.
Example
All media files added by users in group Registration will have the Internal Record Number prepended by rg_
(e.g. rg_143.jpg, rg_276.tif, rg_8543.mov):
